Bornard Le Ginglet 2019

Domaine Philippe Bornard is one of the most renowned in the Jura. Originally from the village of Pupillin, Philippe Bornard had always worked in the vineyard but was selling his grapes to the cooperative wine cellar of his village before taking the plunge in 2005, producing his own wines. Today, Tony Bornard (his son) manages the Domaine, that today has 11 hectares, all distributed around the Municipality of Arbois. In the various rows alternate soils composed of gray, red and blue marls, and schists. The grapes are certified organic since 2005 and Ecocert since 2013.

2018 was the first time that Le Ginglet has been produced without the Arbois Pupillin appellation displayed on the label. However Tony chose not to submit Le Ginglet to the appellation authorities and there may be more that he might not submit as well. The reason us that he wants the wines to reflect the terroir without having to manipulate them into wines that might be more suitable for the conservative members of the authority.
