The Land
Masseria del Pino is truly tiny - one hectare of 120-year-old bush vines in Contrada Pino tucked away, out of sight at 800 metres of altitude. Planted with Nerello Muscalese and a field blend of whites, Cesare Fulvio and Federica Turillo makes three wines from the tiny vineyard, all without added sulphites. The couple moved to Etna from their nearby native Catania, leaving their jobs to seek serenity in the Northern face of Etna. Despite the goldrush atmosphere to gulp up vineyards and bulldoze historic terraces to capitalise on the worldwide popularity of Etna, the estate has remained the same farm with olive trees, chestnut, oak & cherry trees surround the vineyard. The traditional Palmento (winery) on the property is used for winemaking. Artisanal and minuscule annual production of 250 cases that we are extremely excited to bring to you all.

Vinification
The grapes were harvested at the end of October from 140-year-old vines. It was then macerated in the lava stone fermentation tank of the Palmento (the historic winery). Manual punching downs until fermentation begins. After 15 days it is pressed and aged in large chestnut barrels for a year so the wine can experience all four seasons before bottling. 

The Wine
Elegantly scented on the nose, with subtle yet concentrated red fruits supplemented with a touch of funkiness from the use of natural yeasts.  Rich on the palate with complexities of flavour resulting from the old vines and meticulous care of the vineyards. A truly representative Etna Rosso.
