Vino di Anna - Etna, Italy

Vino di Anna is a small family-run winery near the village of Solicchiata on the north side of Mount Etna in Sicily. In 2008, Anna Martens and Eric Narioo started making wine together. And in 2010 they bought their first vineyard and a 250-year-old wine cellar which they restored.

Anna Martens grew up in Adelaide, Australia where she studied oenology. After graduating, she travelled abroad and gained experience in Burgundy, New Zealand, Mendoza, Corbières, Stellenbosch and Tuscany. In 2005 she visited Etna for the first time and worked for three years at Passopisciaro before starting Vino di Anna with Eric Narioo in 2010.

Frenchman Eric Narioo has travelled the world for soil wines and is the founder of the British wine import company Les Caves de Pyrene. He is also behind several wine bars and restaurants in London, among others. Terroirs.

Today they own 6 hectares of vineyards that are cultivated in a biodynamic way. The vineyards are planted with Nerello Mascalese for red wines and a blend of local grape varieties where Grecanico and Carricante are the main varieties for white wines.
